CKCD were delighted to announce that the Deerpark Community Hub was ready to open in March 2022 after many delays due to COVID.
CKCD acknowledges the support of @LMETB and SOLAS in providing a grant of €38,000 under the Mitigating Against Educational Disadvantage Fund (MAEDF). This fund aims to address educational disadvantage which may be experienced by learners and reduce barriers to participation in Further Education and Training by facilitating wider access to digital technologies, equipment, materials etc. It has a particular focus on supporting the engagement and re-engagement of learners in the community. CKCD are using the grant to fund the purchase of IT equipment with the objective of providing access to outreach education and training opportunities in the new Deerpark Community Hub. CKCD want to thank the team in LMETB for their advice, guidance and support. #thisisfet #maedf
CKCD Were delighted to receive a grant of €32,000 from Facebook. This donation will allow CKCD to put the finishing touches to the new Community Hub in terms of technology infrastructure to ensure The Hub can be of benefit to all members of the community for a wide variety of purposes. Facebook has had a presence in Meath since 2016, when they broke ground on their @CloneeDataCenter . As part of their commitment to Meath, Facebook allocates donations to community & voluntary groups to invest in the long term vitality of Meath.
Having worked closely with the team in Facebook over the last number of months, this donation will be used to install WiFi & audio visual and conferencing equipment. We also plan to incorporate some augmentative & alternative communication devices which will be shared with our local classes for children with Autism. Some of the donation will also be used for initial training courses in our new Tech Hub. Facebook partners with community groups like CKCD to help implement projects which will build community and connect people both online and offline. This donation will allow CKCD to ensure the new Community Hub in Deerpark will do just that for many years to come. We would like to thank Aoife, Cory & the team in Facebook for seeing the potential in our community hub and for supporting this project. |

deerparkcommmunityhub@gmail.com The need for a community facility in Carlanstown was identified back in 2012/2013 during a series of public consultation workshops which took place under the Renaissance Village Renewal Initiative funded by Meath Partnership under the LEADER Programme. The public consultation process concluded with the development of a community plan for Carlanstown which set out a number of projects including provision of a community facility.
In 2020 CKCD was successful in securing a LEADER grant of €300,000 and construction of the Deerpark Community Hub was completed in 2021. The facility has two multiuse rooms which can be used for a variety of different activities and are available to rent. Work is underway on developing a programme of activities in line with feedback from the local community. We have also engaged with Louth Meath Education and Training Board and aim to commence some training programmes in the summer of 2022 via their Community Education Programme. This new facility This new facility builds on the developments already undertaken within the Community Park and compliments the outdoor area providing opportunities for people to come together and meet up regardless of the weather or time of the year. CKCD CLG acknowledges the support of Meath Partnership, Meath County Council and the Meath Local Community Development Committee in bringing this project to fruition. The support of the local community and Carlanstown Group Water Scheme has also been critical along the way. Construction of
